BRONX-LEBANON HOSPITAL CENTER

The Pediatrics Residency program at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center's Department of Pediatrics is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. It accepts fifteen residents each year for a categorical three-year program in Pediatrics.

The program is affiliated with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

The program has a primary-care focus, with 50-60 percent of the training period spent in the outpatient setting, exposing residents to scenarios that they will encounter most commonly in their practice.

In strict compliance with the "Bell Commission" regulations, the program residents do not spend more than twenty-four consecutive hours in direct patient care, nor does the workweek extend beyond eighty hours.

The residents have a strong advocate in the Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR). For the year 2006, the salaries for residents are as follows:

PGY-1:     $50,052 [to be updated]
PGY-2:     $53,005
PGY-3:     $57,920

There is an $1100/year allowance for meals. In addition, the residents are entitled to $ 125 a year for books and journals. The Department willingly pays for training in Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
