In
strict compliance with the "Bell Commission" regulations, the program
residents do not spend more than twenty-four consecutive hours in direct
patient care, nor does the workweek extend beyond eighty hours.
The residents have a strong advocate in the Committee of Interns
and Residents (CIR). For the year 2006, the salaries for residents
are as follows:
PGY-1: $50,052 [to be updated]
PGY-2: $53,005
PGY-3: $57,920
There is an
$1100/year
allowance for meals. In addition, the residents are entitled to
$ 125 a year
for books and journals. The Department willingly pays for training in Basic
Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life
Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program
(NRP).
Subsidized housing near the Concourse campus is provided to residents.
